“The Three Sisters”

Close right from the start
Best friends around every bend,
We share a piece of the same heart
May this friendship never end.
May we never be torn apart
Through thick and through thin,
My sisters from other misters
Some could even say my twins.

“Giants Among Us”

Huge like a mountain
A dinosaur of our time,
On the land this animal is largest
You’d really be surprised.
It’s different in person
Close up you realize,
The true scale of the elephant
He’s like a giant in his size.

“Underneath The
Mango Tree”

A memory from childhood
Underneath the mango tree,
A place in the yard
We could go to just ‘be’.
A place we could just be
Whoever we wanted to be,
A place where we could be free
Underneath the mango tree.

“Chitenge”

Here is a painting
That speaks of the culture,
Without using words
It will leave you in rapture.
“We are here to show you
About the life we live,
As the women of Africa
Who have so much to give.
Our Chitenge is symbolic
Of all that we are,
Infinite love and beauty
That captures the heart.”

This is a very purposeful piece, created with the intention of representing the diversity of women in African culture through, not only the intricate Chitenge materials across the painting, but more importantly through the actions of the women within the painting.

Take a closer look, what significance can you see behind each lady?

“Lingerie”

A lady never tells
The secrets of her slumber,
Her silky dressing gown
Or her lacy garments under.
She’ll wear whatever she chooses
It’s most certainly not for you,
So don’t get ahead of yourself
She’s only giving herself a view.

“Randomness”

Chaotic, bizarre
Life is often just a mess,
Why are things this way or that,
Why is there right and left?
It’s too random I say
Absurd at it’s best,
That for some reason in life
Most things just don’t make sense!

“African Figures” pt.1

Oh how beautiful the body is
Unique to each one,
There is no body the same
Underneath the gold sun.
A temple of our souls
What is inside our hearts,
In life the body is
The most important part.
Our home for all
That makes us, ourselves,
The body is sacred
So care for it well.

“Mind & Soul”

Connected we are
In feeling and in whole,
Through our head and our hearts
Through our minds and our souls.
We are all so unique
It’s the way you tell us apart,
There is no better feeling
Than accepting who we are.
So keep more than anything
The peace in your mind,
It is the core to achieving
The most fulfilling life.

flowers

“Flowers”

The colours of the rainbow
Are the colours we see in light,
Red, orange and yellow
Are just some of the bright.
Together with the darker few
Green, purple and blue,
All the flowers in the world
Are really a worthy view.

“Rainbow Mandala”

Red, orange, yellow
It’s where the rainbow starts,
The warmer of the spectrum
The colour of our hearts.
Green, purple, blue
The colder of the rest,
The colour of skies and water
No colour is the best.

“Flame Lilies”

Wild Flower, wilder flame
These wildflowers can never be tamed,
The “Gloriosa Superba”
Is just another name.
For the wild “Flame Lily”
Or the “Lily of Flames”,
There is no other flower
That is quite anything the same.

Often smell the best,
Their odor somehow puts
All kinds of stress to rest.

A never ending happiness,
A perfectly pure example
Is the unforgettable hibiscus.

Forever the sight of her flames
Will remain a part of you.

“Lotus Circle”

A never ending shape
A circle that continues,
A flower representing
Birth and starting anew.
A reminder that your life is not
Over when things get rough,
Face each day with its own strength
You are not weak but rather tough.

“Orchids”

What a stunning plant
A unique and strange flower,
With a beautiful attraction
And an undeniable power.
Her petals are so bold
They are almost standing out,
The orchid is not awkward at all
She is a blessing to have about.

“The Silver Owl”

Nocturnal he is
This owl remains still,
In front of the moon
He watches the world.
He learns from all things
That there are to see,
He learns about you
And he learns about me.
He remains so calm
And at peace with himself,
That’s why the wisest
Of all the birds is the owl.

An owl standing in the silver moon, this painting represents the wisdom of remaining calm. To be at peace and take all things as they come.

Often it is more valuable to remain silent and hear what others have to say that to try and speak your mind.

“The Lion”

Detailed in colour
This lion does show,
So much of reality
We do not want to know.
A terrifying close up
Of a killers face
And the inevitable end
That will certainly take place.
A reminder that we share
This world with all kinds,
A reminder to appreciate
All we have in this life.

Intricate and detailed, this piece is capturing to the eye and showing wonderous beauty in the lion. Looking closely, the finer details bring in structure not normally seen in this creature. Some parts remind us of not only the beautifully terrifying nature of this world, but also of the inevitable end of life which we all face. A realisation that we are connected to all things living and we are all a part of this Earth.

“Temptations”

An apple a day
Keeps the doctor away,
But no fruit in this world
Keeps temptation at bay.
To resist sin
Is different for each,
But it is hard for us all
To stay out of reach.
You are so much stronger
Than you may even know,
You will get through each day
Growing better with each tomorrow.

A personal piece from my own soul, this artwork represents the temptations all around us. As humans, we cannot help but face sin each and every day, but it’s up to us to refuse that path and to do what is right. We fall, too often we fail, it’s hard to get it right – we were made to be imperfect and it is our duty to work at it every day to be better than we were yesterday. This piece is a reminder of the terrifying appeal of sin, so beautiful yet so dangerous and dark. Stare your sin in the eye, then refuse it

“Giraffe Friend”

Standing tall and with a smile
He looks down on all his friends,
Not because he doesn’t like them
But ’cause of how his neck extends.
He has such a welcoming face
A face that says “let’s have some fun”,
Even if you just sit around and watch me
While I stroll about in the sun.

“Cheetah Portrait”

Here is the cheetah
She’s the fastest in the world,
No other land animal
Can beat this speedy girl.
Her beauty is something
So unique, wild and pure,
Don’t dare try to race
Because you’ll never beat her.

“Panda & Lotus”

I am a kind of bear
You don’t usually call me that,
All of my extra fluff
Makes me look a little fat.
I always have a smile
I am the sweetest creature,
Like a lotus fresh from water
My panda heart is pure.

“The Zebra”

Such stunning animals
The zebra are,
Unique to each one
Just like the stars.
Their black and white stripes
Truly make them stand out,
It’s so precious to see them
Just walking about.
We are beyond blessed to share
Our world with such specimen,
Zebra, giraffe, elephant
And all the rest of them.

Growing up in Africa I have been very blessed to have been able to experience the nature of wild animals, and the true wonders they bring to our world. I wish to share this with others so that they too may feel the absolute fulfilment that animals bring to our hearts and souls.

“A Zebra”

Black, white and silver
This zebra does flow,
Two separate parts
That form one whole.
Abstract chaos,
A controlled mess,
This finger painted piece
Is beautiful no less.
May it shine bring light
Into the lives it may touch,
Sharing joy and appreciation
For the world around us.

Two parts of a whole, this abstract painting represents the randomness throughout nature, yet the beauty it continues to hold.

A hand painting that was created with heart and soul, this beauty hopes to find its way to a home where it will inspire those who pass, bringing about a greater appreciation for our world and all its occupants.

“Circles”

Whether it be the darkness
Or the light,
There is much to learn
Through day and night.
Silver and gold
Both shining so bright,
This piece represents
All things in this life.
All that is bad
And all that is good,
As long as you appreciate,
Just as you should.

Contrasting gold and silver, this set of two abstract circles are to act as a reminder of the beauty that can be seen in all aspects of life.

In dark and in light, good can be found and there is much to learn from both sides.

“Lines”

Extremely random
Yet this painting still shines,
How can so much beauty
Come from just a few lines?
Art is most meaningful
When it makes us feel something,
Whether it is a realistic painting
Or an abstract kind of thing.
We each perceive art differently
And how it makes us feel,
Having our own interpretation
Is what makes art so real.

Abstract pieces are often understood very differently by people. It is an aesthetic style which allows the viewer to have their own interpretation of its meaning, often creating their own story through the painting. This is a beautiful thing to share with others, and an amazing chance for people to find their own understanding in the randomness.

“Golden Circle”

I have no beginning
And I have no end,
I am a curved line
That will forever bend.
Like all things in life
I will continue to go,
Ahead with the journey
Along with the flow.
Good or bad
I will bring along growth,
It’s the cycle of life
Don’t you know?

Circles represents all that is constant. This life continues to go on no matter how stuck we feel, but it is vital to keep moving. Time continues on and so should we.

“Mandala Sewings”

The subject of mathematics
For most is quite hard,
Is it an academic field
Or actually an art?
Numbers are used
To graph simple shapes,
They are literally used
To code time and space.
